The Village of Haverstraw is Rockland's historical industrial heartland. The brick making industry of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century attracted scores of new immigrants among them Irish, Italian and German. The bricks for many buildings in New York City were quarried here. Today Haverstraw maintains its rich melting pot tradition - Haverstraw is home to many newly arrived Hispanics.

Visit Haverstraw's marina or head west for some hiking in Harriman State Park, geographically or culturally, Haverstraw is a wonderful experience.
